Saltings Estate specialises in making fine wine from estate grown grapes sourced from a single vineyard. These grapes have been grown in the traditional manner using biodynamic techniques. This involves growing the grapes without the use of herbicide, insecticide, systemic fungicides or soluble fertilisers. It also incorporates the use of Biodynamic herbal preparations, plant teas and fungal compost teas. The work in the vineyard and winery incorporate our understandings of the complex natural and cosmic rhythms which affect these daily activities. Where ever possible our activities are timed to coincide with these rhythms.

Saltings Estate Malbec

This dark, brooding Malbec, rich with the aroma of violets and the flavour of plumy stewed fruits, benefits from great structure and fine tannins. This full bodied pure Malbec is suitable to drink now but will improve for the next five to ten years.

Saltings Estate Syrah

This well-integrated wine is typical of cool-climate Syrah. The elegant fruit characters have been retained by maturing the wine in old French oak barrels for sixteen months. This wine is lovely to drink now but benefits from decanting to open up the aromas. Suitable to cellar for the next five years.

Sandspit Cove Syrah

This soft, delicate Syrah displays hints of pepper and warm spices. It has been aged for sixteen months in new and old French oak barrels. Although this is the same wine as the Saltings Estate Syrah, it displays more of the new oak characteristics. This wine although still young can be drunk now and will still improve with cellaring for the next two to five years.

Sandspit Cove Merlot

This delicate Merlot displays subtle French oak and savoury characters. A versatile, food friendly wine that is easy to drink now and for the next two years.
